Fantastic Mr. Dahl!
Woke up early this morning to help at the parents seminar in Ngee Ann. Was feeling all grumpy and irritable. It's a Saturday morning and I'm supposed to be sleeping in! Ahh, the simple pleasures of extra sleep. Anyway it turned out much better than expected, when we got released early and we'll be getting $20. Extra money never hurts my pocket.
Watched Fantastic Mr. Fox at night with my parents and Lydia. As the title implies, it's fantastic! I really like the animation which looks like a massive flip-book. There was a scene where Mr.Fox was asked why he was trying so hard to outsmart the farmers and steal chickens and he said (something like).

"Because I have to prove that I'm so fantastic that it would awe all the animals etc."
In a way I can relate to this too, there are times where I try so hard to be the best in order to impress others. What I learnt from the movie was that as long as you are doing what you do best, there is no need to impress others. Pretty impressive I say!

Forget and not Slow Down
The first thing about Relient K's latest album - Forget But Not Slow Down is it's intensity. Gone are the days of singing about Pirates that don't do anything. Instead this album explores the breakdown of a relationship and it's consequences. However there is always a tempo of optimism laced into even the harsher songs. The second is that it is definitely the one of the most creative albums I've ever heard. My favourite song is "Savannah", which also happens to the most peaceful piece in the album. It captures the image of living in the grasslands. Give it a listen!

Back To School
The mood the day before school is always terrible. All holidays come to an end, except maybe at the end. Living the poly days is that it's like living in a mood swing. One minute you're cramming like your life depended on it, the next your as free as a lark with too much time to spend.Today I saw a job vacancy poster outside a pet-shop. Man, I wanna work at a pet-shop! Why did I only see it after all the holidays are over. Anyway... going back to school should be a good thing. The rust on my brain is starting to accumulate.
The subjects this semester are basically a bunch of calculators, so I'm just praying for a numeric mind.
An apple on the teacher's desk a day is going to keep the bad grades away!

He Gives and Takes away
He gives and takes away,
He gives and takes away,
But my heart will choose to say...
Lord blessed be your name.
